I Buy Can After Can of These “Perfect” $2 Canned Beans (They’re the Best I’ve Ever Tasted)
Like most people, when I’m putting together dinner on a typical weeknight, I’m looking for something quick and easy. I love to have some variety on my plate with a main and a side, but I don’t want to spend a ton of time chopping a mountain of vegetables or rinsing and simmering grains. That’s when a can of Serious Bean Co. Dude Perfect Jalapeño and Bacon Pinto Beans will likely emerge from my pantry. These seasoned beans are a reliable and ready-to-go side that pairs well with everything — tacos, tofu, you name it.
What’s So Great About Serious Bean Co. Jalapeño and Bacon Pinto Beans?
I’m admittedly not a huge bean lover, and I rarely pop open a can of plain black or pinto beans to top a salad or stir into soup. But I love that these Serious Bean Co. beans are already dressed and ready to heat and eat.
Though the term “Dude Perfect” in the product name suggests that these cans are marketed to men, we ladies should still be reaching for cans at the store.
The soft pinto beans are coated in a thick, lightly sweetened sauce with pops of heat from diced jalapeños. Crumbled bacon adds texture and meatiness to the dish, and I love that the beans aren’t painfully sweet, as some canned baked beans can be. The sauce isn’t your typical gummy barbecue sauce; it’s perfectly smoky and savory with a hint of brown sugar.
What’s the Best Way to Enjoy Serious Bean Co. Jalapeño and Bacon Beans?
I simply empty a can (or two) into a saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer on the stove. I’ve been known to serve these beans with a fried egg for breakfast. They also make the easiest taco filling — just add plenty of colorful toppings like pickled red onions, cilantro, and pico. Or, I like to add a scoop of the bacon-y beans as a side to burgers, roasted chicken, or BBQ tofu (try this easy sheet pan recipe.) They’re welcome any time of year and nearly any time of day at my house.
