Season 4 of “Selena + Chef” Is Coming Soon and Disney Fans May Find the Filming Location to Be Very Familiar
Disney Channel alum Selena Gomez is dishing up a new season of her beloved home cooking series, Selena + Chef, but this time there’ll be a few changes.
Like many celebrity cooking shows (a product of the pandemic), the show was inspired by a time when Selena found herself cooking at home more often. This endeavor changed her perception of “how much time, effort, and love goes into the art of cooking” — so she sought to chronicle her culinary adventures for the world to see.
Selena, acclaimed for her singing and acting as much as her love of food, shares this passion on the show with her roster of special guests. In addition to her closest friends and family, she is joined by world-class celebrity chefs who help her tackle new cuisines while sharing tips and tricks in the kitchen. Seasons 1-3 featured specialties such as Roy Choi’s breakfast tacos, Padma Lakshmi’s Indian brunch, and a seafood soiree by Andrew Sanchez. In other episodes, she shared family favorites, including Nana’s white cornbread stuffing and cheesy chicken tortilla chip casserole.
Just as each chef highlights a different specialty each episode, they will also highlight a charity of their choice. The show donates $10,000 to that specific charity, and to date the series has raised $400,000 for 26 nonprofit organizations.
While Selena initially filmed the show out of her Los Angeles home, this summer filming is heading to a home on the California Coast. If the new filming location — a Malibu mansion — looks familiar, it’s because it was the home of Miley Cyrus in Disney’s Hannah Montana. This setting pays tribute to Gomez’s guest appearance on Hannah Montana as pop star Mikayla, Hannah’s rival.
Since season 3 of Selena + Chef wrapped last November, fans have been left anxiously awaiting the debut of season 4, which will begin streaming on HBO Max August 18. Expect appearances from Gordon Ramsay, Priya Krishna, Matty Matheson, Rachael Ray, Devonn Francis, Kristen Kish, Ludo Lefebvre, Paola Velez, Nick DiGiovanni, and Adrienne Cheatham. These guests will work with the Only Murders in the Building star to craft seasonal summertime dishes and ease Selena out of her comfort zone as she adds new tastes and techniques to her repertoire.
After the August 18 premiere, the remainder of the season will air in three parts. Three more episodes will arrive for streaming the following week, while the final batch of four episodes will premiere September 1 for the season finale.
