Lately I haven’t had the time to cook. Although I’m a bit ashamed to admit that (after all, I am an editor at a food publication!), I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that life has just been burning me out. Between work at Kitchn, running my all-natural beverage company, settling into my first home(!), and just trying to live my best millennial life, I just really haven’t had the time to cook a real meal and sit down long enough to actually enjoy it.

That, however, all changed when I tested out Stanley Tucci’s new Taste of Tucci Recipe Kit — leaving me to feel like I was living the From Scratch life in real time (minus the heartache, of course). Now while I could have pulled out my go-to Our Place pot, I decided it was time to put the newest members of my cookware collection to the test: Risa.

If you haven’t heard of Risa cookware yet, it’s OK — that’s why I’m here. And trust me, after you’ve made your way through this little review of mine, you’ll want to add the set to your holiday wishlist.

What Is Risa?

Risa is a new nonstick and non-toxic cookware collection, brought to you by the talented Eva Longoria. It launched just this month with an 8-quart pot, 4.5-quart sauté pan, and accessories like pot holders, a serving stand, a splatter screen, and a stackable steamer — and that’s just to start.

Both the pot and pan are available in three colors — Deep Blue, Cool Grey, and Natural Ivory — but the pot holders, splatter screen, and steamer are only available in the Deep Blue colorway for now. I tested the Risa Cookware Set, which includes the pot, pan, and matching lids, in the gray colorway.

Now that you have that info at hand, let’s skip to the good part: how it works.

What Makes Risa’s Cookware So Great

This set of cookware has quickly become one of my favorites and I’ve tested out a lot of pots and pans! The first thing I noticed was how slick the pot and pan were. Of course, you’d expect that from nonstick cookware, but I can count on both hands how many times something that has promised to be nonstick has failed me on the first try.

Outside of fulfilling the nonstick promise, the pot — which I filled with 5 quarts of water — heated evenly in a short amount of time. Another cool capability of the pot and pan is that each one has a nesting handle so you can rest the lids. Ingenious? I think so!

Both the pot and pan are oven-safe up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, which means that the silicone pot holders come in extremely handy. They’re easy to rinse off if needed, but they’re also dishwasher-safe and I truly love that for me.

Normally, I wouldn’t grab a multi-piece cookware set because I might not have a need for every item, but Risa’s Cookware set has just two pieces of versatile nonstick cookware that I’ve been using regularly. I might not always have time to cook, but at least Risa’s cookware is making it easier when I do.

And just in time, because Risa is having a nice little Black Friday sale with up to 30 percent off of everything. Fair warning: You may love this cookware more than you realize, so don’t be upset if your other pieces get no love after this.
