Rihanna’s Lavish Los Angeles Penthouse Offers Up Views That Shine Bright Like a Diamond
What do you do when you’re a soon-to-be mother of two, and the 3,000-square foot condo you’ve called home for nine years no longer fits your life? If you’re Rihanna, you drop $21 million and literally move on up to a deluxe apartment in the sky — the penthouse on the 40th floor of the same building, to be exact.
The singer-turned-fashion-and-beauty mogul just closed on the new property, which is three times the size of her previous digs at The Century. Touted as a posh Los Angeles skyscraper, the space is home to other celebrity residents including Denzel Washington and Real Housewives of Orange County alums Terry and Heather Dubrow.
Upon entering the home, which is accessible through a private elevator, guests are greeted by a panoramic view of South Los Angeles, thanks to the living room’s curved wall of picture frame windows. The open-concept living place includes a lounge/gaming area that’s currently home to both a pool table and a full-sized living room.
Just beyond that space is a large kitchen, with modern white cabinetry offering a gorgeous contrast to the dark brown hardwood floors. The kitchen boasts twin, tan marble-topped islands: one which houses a large stovetop range (complete with floating, stainless steel hood); and the other, where the sink is located, offers seating for four. The commercial-sized fridge is built into the wall and matches the cabinets perfectly.
While she tripled her total square footage of available space from 3,000 to just over 9,000, Rihanna’s new home only offers one additional bedroom to the three she had before. But judging by the master suite alone, the bedrooms are certainly large enough that her 11-month-old son — whom she shares with rapper and businessman A$AP Rocky — and the pending new addition to their family could easily share a nursery. This would leave two more bedrooms available for guests, staff, or other purposes.
Mommy’s master suite has enough space to accommodate three separate lounging areas, offering several vantage points from which to enjoy the 180° views of L.A. created by the bedroom’s curved wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. The master also features two walk-in closets and two separate bathrooms.
Additional selling points of the home, which was renovated by Friends star Matthew Perry during his four-year ownership of the property, includes an in-home theater with floor-to-ceiling views of DTLA; and four balconies, each facing a different direction and thus allowing guests to enjoy all of the contrasting landscapes of California, from Malibu Beach to snow-capped Baldy Mountain.
In addition to the hefty price tag the Barbadian superstar dropped for the new space, she’s also responsible for $8,814 in monthly HOA. But for the world’s richest female musician whose net worth is reported to be $1.4 billion, that seems like total chump change.
