If your weekly meal plan includes a taco night, we’re guessing that it’s your favorite dinner of the week. But when you make the same ground beef with a packet of taco seasoning week after week, your tacos might start feeling a little predictable. That just means it’s time to shake things up! The next time Taco Tuesday rolls around, try making yours with ranch-seasoned ground chicken. The big, bold flavor of ranch adds a little spontaneity and easily transforms any dinner into something way more exciting than you’d expect for a weeknight.

Double Down on Flavor

Swapping ground beef for chicken is already a fun twist on its own, but the key ingredient for making these tacos into something different comes from a Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning Shaker. You’ll use it to flavor these chicken tacos at two steps. First, swap it for the usual taco seasoning packet to flavor juicy ground chicken. Then, stir it into some sour cream to make a cool ranchy topping to dollop onto each taco.

These tacos come together quickly, and each person can fill their tacos just the way they like them. We love some thinly sliced onion, creamy chunks of avocado, and fresh parsley to complement the ranch flavors, but feel free to riff with your own favorite toppings—that’s the whole spirit of taco night!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon

    vegetable oil

  • 1 pound

    ground chicken

  • 2 teaspoons

    Hidden Valley® The Original Ranch® Seasoning, divided

  • 1/8 teaspoon

    red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 1/4 cup

    sour cream

  • 1 tablespoon

    tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice

  • 8

    crunchy taco shells

  • 1/2

    small red onion, thinly sliced

  • 1

    medium avocado, diced

  • Finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves

  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the chicken, 2 teaspoons of the Hidden Valley® Ranch Seasoning, and red pepper flakes, if using. Cook, breaking the meat up into small pieces, until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink, 7 to 8 minutes. Remove from the heat; set aside.

  2. Whisk the sour cream, lime juice, and remaining 1 teaspoon Hidden Valley® Ranch Seasoning together in a small bowl.

  3. Divide the chicken between the taco shells. Top with the red onion, avocado, parsley, and ranch sour cream. Serve with lime wedges.
