Rachael Ray Has a Kitchen in Her Bedroom. We’re Not Sure What to Think — But These Are the 5 Things We Love the Most About It.
Back in fall 2021, celebrity chef Rachael Ray and her husband, John Cusimano, revealed that they bought a dream house to renovate in Italy. “When I was a very small girl, one of my first memories of life is my grandpa telling me stories about Italy and the mountains and how people would farm all the way up to the sky,” explained Rachael on her show. “All of my life, all I ever wanted was to live in Italy.”
Yes, Rachael, us too! While the talk-show host, of course, has a full-blown, newly built main kitchen in her Tuscany home, it was her finished bedroom kitchen she unveiled on Instagram a couple of months ago that really caught our eye. Bedroom kitchen? Yes, a bedroom kitchen! Who knew those even existed? Watching her Instagram video, we instantly spotted five things we absolutely adore. Let’s take a look!
1. The rustic and cozy dining table
As soon as the door opens to her upstairs bedroom suite, we get a glimpse of Rachael’s cozy wooden farm table that seats four. With the kitchen centered around the dining area, we can already imagine the late-night chats and sips of hot cocoa. The setting is so intimate — it’s straight out of a fairy tale. As one Instagram viewer commented, “This takes late-night snacks to a new level.”
2. The super-cute window seat
While the camera pans over the oven and stove, we immediately spotted the ever-so-cute window seat nook. It’s outfitted with a plush corner cushion and a dazzling garden view. Plus, it has room for hidden storage beneath. We think it’s the perfect spot to hunker down and start daydreaming.
3. The convenient open shelving
Inspired by the latest kitchen design trends, we noticed Rachael’s use of open shelving in place of any upper cabinets. Like the pro that she is, this celeb cookbook author keeps her stacks of bowls and dishes neat and tidy and only stores the essentials. For the pantry, she relies on two open vintage shelves on wheels to organize plenty of provisions.
4. The two kitchen islands
With minimal countertop space, Rachael maximizes her work area by centering a kitchen island in front of her stove. The lower shelves of the island act as extra storage space for a few of her pots and pans, while the island’s work surface itself provides an easy-to-reach spot for storing a handy utensil crock. Rachael also uses a small, but useful, wooden kitchen island as another work area, stationed just beneath a glowing pendant light. (More on that below.)
5. The gorgeous pendant light
Just as Rachael tells us on her Instagram video that she “dreams in pasta,” we have a chance to glimpse a dazzling, doughnut-shaped, glass pendant hanging above the miniature kitchen island. It’s rustic and charming — just like everything else.
