Get a Taste of Perfection with This Deliciously Simple Puff Pastry Pepperoni Snack
If there is one thing to learn about me, it’s that I can’t get enough of creative snacks. I will regularly scour my refrigerator for deli meats, cheeses, and leftovers with the sole purpose of satisfying my munchie craving. Nothing is off-limits, and with an open mind, there is always the possibility of achieving ultimate snacking greatness. That being said, when I came across Josh Elkin’s recipe for a Puff Pastry Pepperoni Snack, I quickly jumped at the opportunity to bookmark them for easy access when I’m ready to try them myself.
This recipe is quick and easy to assemble — which leaves you more time for snacking. Start by laying out one sheet of puff pastry and evenly spread your favorite marinara over it. On top of the marinara, add six to eight slices of mozzarella cheese and then 12 to 15 slices of pepperoni, before adding one more sheet of puff pastry on top. Press down evenly to secure the two sheets of puff pastry together.
Next, cut into 1-inch thick pieces, accordion fold each piece, and insert a wooden skewer. Then, place the skewered puff pastry on a baking tray with parchment paper. Combine melted butter, a clove of minced garlic, and some dried oregano in a bowl and whisk together. Paint each puff pastry snack with the butter and herb mixture and then place into the oven at 435°F for about 15 minutes. They may be a little hot to eat immediately, but I’d risk it any day just for the steamy, flaky goodness.
