Here’s What You Need to Know About the Return of Popeyes’ Fried Chicken Sandwich
ICYMI, Popeyes’ Fried Chicken Sandwich, which was released this summer, became THE sandwich everyone wanted to get their hands on. It was basically the new “cronut.” In fact, when we tried to test it ourselves, it was a challenge — the first location was sold out of them before noon and the second location had a two-sandwich-per-person limit. Yikes.
The hype was real. In fact, it was SO real that Popeyes shortly sold out of the beloved sandwich at all locations across America. And clearly fans were not happy — Instagram and Twitter feeds do not lie. Some people even got violent. But now the dark days are over, and you can get your fried chicken grub on once again. You won’t have to settle for mediocre.
According to Bloomberg, about 150 Popeyes locations operated by franchisee Sun Holdings Inc. will offer America’s favorite sandwich starting in early November. That is SO, SO, SO soon. Literally in like two weeks!
And what’s more, the restaurants are even hiring an additional 400 employees to deal the madness. They might even hire two people per store to just whip up those tasty fried chicken sandwiches all day long — no other menu items!
Right now, the first locations to start to sell the sandwich once again will be at Sun Holdings–owned Popeyes, which are in Texas, Oklahoma City, and central and coastal Florida. For everyone else, hopefully they’ll reach other locations and states later in the month.
So if you’ve had dreams about that buttery brioche, thick chicken, and pickles, and crispy, tender texture, you’ll soon be able to enjoy them in real life, too. And let’s just hope they don’t sell out again — can you imagine? Don’t let us down Popeyes, please.
