A pomegranate martini is a brighter, sweeter twist on a traditional martini. It’s the perfect cocktail for people who like their drinks a bit sweet but not too sweet. The pomegranate juice is key in providing the perfect balance of tartness. And the result is as refreshing as it is beautiful to look at.
Ingredients You’ll Need for a Pomegranate Martini
Pomegranate martinis are so simple to make! All you need is vodka, pomegranate juice, triple sec, lemon, and ice. I like a 100% pomegranate juice from concentrate, such as POM. It’s also important not to skimp on ice! It may seem weird to think of ice as a key ingredient, but ice doesn’t just make the drink cold and refreshing — it also dilutes the cocktail just enough so that it’s not too strong.
What Alcohol Is Used in a Pomegranate Martini?
This pomegranate martini recipe uses vodka as the base spirit, but vodka versus gin is a debate as old as time itself. If you’re a gin connoisseur, feel free to experiment with gin in place of vodka in this recipe. Triple sec, an orange liqueur, is also added in a smaller amount for citrus flavor and sweetness.
What Does a Pomegranate Martini Go Well With?
For happy hour, serve pomegranate martinis with salty nibbles like Parmesan crisps, candied cocktail nuts, crunchy pretzels, or popcorn. It also makes a great after-dinner drink if you want to skip dessert but end the night on a sweet note.

Instructions
FIll a 5-ounce or larger martini glass with ice, or place in the refrigerator or freezer to chill for at least 5 minutes.
Place 1 1/2 ounces vodka, 1 1/2 ounces pomegranate juice, 1/2 ounce triple sec, and 1/2 ounce lemon juice in a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice, seal, and shake until the outside of the shaker is very frosty, about 20 seconds.
If the martini glass has ice, dump the ice out. Pour the cocktail through a strainer into the chilled glass. Squeeze the lemon twist into the drink to release the oils. Gently run the twist around the edge of the glass, then place it in the glass and serve.
