Can’t think of what to have for dinner? Order a pizza. Want to keep morale high in the workplace? Order a pizza. Need to warm your heart and comfort your soul? Make some pizza soup!

It’s been a personal long-standing belief that pizza is one of the world’s perfect foods. Tasty, filling, comforting, convenient, and fitting for most occasions (whether it be for a celebration, a party gathering, or a late-night snack), pizza is arguably one of the most versatile solutions to stave off hunger. And now, with the discovery of Brunch with Babs’ recipe for pizza soup, its utility has become even more diverse.

Imagine all of the fixings of a traditional pizza, minus the crust and the oven. Combined in a pot, cooked on the stove, and served in a bowl — that’s pizza soup. It’s a familiar favorite now remixed for the modern day, and it’s just in time for winter.

According to everyone’s favorite internet grandma, Babs, all you’ll need to make this “crowd-pleasing soup” is Italian sausage, pepperoni, onion, garlic, red pepper, tomato, chicken broth, mozzarella cheese, and — of course — pizza sauce. Seasonings like dried basil, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes are also added to give this soup the extra push it needs toward the pizza category.

In a pot, cook the sausage, pepperoni, onion, and red pepper until the meat is no longer pink and the veggies are tender. Crumble the sausage as you cook and add your garlic, cooking for an additional minute before adding your seasonings, chicken broth, tomatoes, and pizza sauce. Bring it all to a gentle boil, lower the heat, and let simmer for 10 minutes. For the finishing touch, top it off with the shredded mozzarella cheese and get ready to dig in.

As it seems, pizza isn’t the only fan-favorite food that’s been adapted into a soup. Both hamburger soup and taco soup are recipes that you may need to keep you warm on a chilly winter day. Whatever you choose, though, be sure enjoy the finished product!
