These Crunchy Twists Just Became My Favorite Snack of All Time
I don’t mean to brag, but I think I could be nationally ranked in a snacking competition (if there’s a national snack competition I don’t know about, please slide into my DMs with the deets). Part of my impressive snacking capabilities is owed to my mother who, since I was a child, carried around a large purse full of snacks. This earned my family the endearing nickname of “Snackatinos” — a moniker which I, intentionally or not, have certainly grown into.
I have celiac disease, but over the years as a product tester and writer I’ve accumulated a handful of favorite gluten-free snacks that I always have in my cabinets (which I’ve been meaning to organize, but we both know I’m just going to finish all the snacks before then). And, like any good pro snacker, I’m pretty loyal to the chips, crackers, bars, and sweets that have earned a spot in my heart.
Needless to say, adding a new gluten-free item onto Stella’s Snack List needs to meet a very high bar. So when I stumbled upon Pipcorn Cinnamon Sugar Twists, I was intrigued but skeptical. I’d heard about the family-run, female-owned brand of corn-based snacks from colleagues who praised the company’s popcorn as exceptional in texture and practically unrivaled in the taste department. But like I said, I’ve got high standards.
However, when I finally got a hold of a bag and ate just a single Twist, there was no turning back — I immediately made space in my cabinets for more bags. If that’s not a testament of a darn good snack, I don’t know what is.
So what are these new Pipcorn twists, you ask? Well, they’re somehow light as a feather and substantial. They’re crunchy and melt-in-your-mouth tender. They’re sweet and salty, and they taste like golden-brown mini churros. Unlike other churro-inspired snacks I’ve had that are overly sweet, these twists have a corn base that provide a well-rounded flavor to balance out the sweetness from the sugar flecks. It also means they’re gluten-free for folks like me who can’t process gluten or are just trying to avoid eating gluten.
Aside from the incomparable flavor, supreme texture, and total snack-ability, there’s something else I love about these satisfying crisps: how they’re made. Pipcorn only uses heirloom corn that was open-pollinated and grown with more sustainable methods by family farmers.
Now, I know I’ve been tooting my own horn and bragging about my snacking status, but it was all for good reason — I’m picky! I don’t just take in any ol’ snack off the block, so trust me when I say Pipcorn’s Cinnamon Sugar Twists are the best new snack I’ve had in months, maybe even years.
