It’s here! Well, it’s there, anyway: this week on Instagram, Ree Drummond posted the first shots of her new cookbook as she opened her copies. The book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks The New Frontier: 112 Fantastic Favorites for Everyday Eating, doesn’t actually come out for the rest of us until October 22, though you can smash that pre-order button whenever. “Despite the work that a cookbook takes,” she posted on Instagram yesterday, “It never quite feels real until I hold it in my hand.”

She posted the cover — her holding a platter of grilled meat and vegetables — and a quick flip through the inside that shows off recipes for pizzas, pastas, and soups. She ends on one very important photo from the book: a picture of her dog, Fred. And, from the looks of it, it’s not the only one — the flip-through shows plenty of photos of her family and that includes Fred.

If you need more Pioneer Woman cookbook content before the book arrives at your door in a month, she’s got you covered in her Instagram highlights, where she’s saved her stories of unboxing the cookbook last week, and more importantly, showing off some of the recipes: there are breadsticks, stuffed pitas, and “tasty desserts” that seem to be cupcakes of various sorts. She shows a cauliflower and pine nut plate — one of her favorite things in the whole book — and boasts that her towering sandwich in the lunch section is “ridonkulous.”

All this, she says, means that her camera is now covered in “egg yolk, chocolate ganache, soup, meringue, cake batter, flour, butter, and good cheer.” But the brightly colored doughnuts that follow (also from the book) sure seem to imply that it’s all worth it — as long as you can sit tight for a month until it comes out.
