Ree Drummond Hints at a Sweet New Addition for Pawhuska Visitors
We can always count on the Pioneer Woman to have something else in store for us. Never one to rest on her laurels, the prolific blogger and television star has announced an upcoming cookbook (out in October) and a new line of bottled sauces, and is now hinting about bringing something sweet to her hometown.
Pawhuska, Oklahoma, was already on the tourist map long before Ree met Ladd and moved in: The historic town, which has 86 of its 98 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, is the headquarters of the Osage Nation and home to its Osage Tribal Museum. But these days, the longest lines in town are for The Pioneer Woman Mercantile — also known as The Merc.
The two-story building already has a retail store and deli with coffee on the bottom floor and a sit-down restaurant on top. But something sweet may be coming soon — although it’s not clear if it will be part of the Merc or its own stand-alone spot.
All we really know from Ree’s mysterious Insta post is that there’s ice cream involved: “When you’re about to open an ice cream shop,” the caption reads on her latest Instagram post, “it helps to have teenage boys on hand to taste test the sundaes. Bryce and Kevin selflessly offered their services today. Somebody had to do it!”
The photo shows a decadent ice cream sundae with a mountain of whipped cream, red syrup, white chocolate chips, and — of course — a cherry on top. In the background, the boys dig into additional sundaes, seeming to have pretty much the best job on earth.
Soon enough, it seems, we’ll all have the chance to dig into Ree’s decadent desserts ourselves — and that’s enough to get us very excited.
