Deep-Dish Pie Crust

I love pie. Whether it’s blueberry, apple, or Megan Thee Stallion’s Hottie Pie, there are just so many delicious ways to enjoy it. But as any pie-lover will know, it’s pretty hard to make a pie come out as beautiful as the photos in the recipe. Once you start slicing into it things can get really messy, really fast. Whether you use a knife for the task or one of many different slicing gadgets around, it’s still hard to achieve that perfect slice — especially the first slice.

According to America’s Test Kitchen, though, getting that perfect initial piece is as easy as well, pie. And all it requires to you do is make three cuts before slicing the pie. To be more clear, you’ll make the first two cuts to form the first slice of pie, and then a third cut to form the second slice. According to the renowned outlet, by inserting this extra cut it’s easier to facilitate movement within the pie and, in turn, it helps to simply slide the first slice out, resulting in a picture-perfect slice made for the cover of your favorite food magazine.

While there seems to be other side benefits of this hack (I can’t help but notice this is a brilliant excuse for having two slices of pie instead of one!), it goes a long way toward having a perfect slice of pie to present to guests. Perhaps more importantly, it’ll also make sure that perfect slice is Instagram-ready when we’re ready to share it with the world.

But it makes me wonder … does this hack work with all kinds of pie? Could it be the secret to perfectly sliced deep-dish pizza, too? In my opinion, it’s absolutely worth investigating.
