This Super-Simple Hack Will Help You Get Perfect Cheese Slices Every Time
If you’ve been following any of my recent posts with Kitchn, then you know that I’ve slowly become a huge fan of searching social media for useful hacks to help around the kitchen. From learning how to correctly use a potato peeler to a mess-free way to discard grease, I feel like I learn something new every day. Case in point: the latest hack I stumbled across that’s guaranteed to be a favorite for cheese-lovers.
Posted by the Instagram account @ConVinoBoard — a curated page for all things related to wine, cheese, and charcuterie — the hack shows you a very simple way to cut perfectly sliced pieces of cheese. It’s another trick that’s so simple, I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it myself.
In the short clip, the digital creator who teaches you “how to elevate your next soirée,” takes a fork, pokes a block of cheese, and uses the evenly spaced holes created by the prongs on the fork as the guide for where to slice. And voila! You now have evenly sliced pieces of cheese — and you didn’t have to bust out any additional gadgets to get them.
This little hack will easily become standard practice for myself, as we consume an absurdly large amount of cheese in my house. Whether it’s for cooking, snacking, or making our own charcuterie boards for guests, there is always an assortment of oddly and unevenly sliced pieces of cheese to be found in the kitchen. But now, thanks to this simple hack, those awkwardly-shaped slices will look much more appetizing.
