Now a new one to tuck in my memory for years to come, this hack from @beyond.the.butter on Instagram has given me a creative new way to use a mini muffin pan and has given me a way to make an adorable shrunken-down version of one of my favorite desserts: pie! And it turns out, shot glasses aren’t just for parties …
According to Jennifer Switzer — the baking mastermind behind Beyond the Butter — this hack shows us how to form perfect mini pie crust shells in your mini muffin tin by simply using a shot glass. Just place your mini pie crusts in the muffin cups, and use the bottom of the shot glass to mold the crust into the muffin cup. Once the mini pie crusts are done baking, “let them cool a little bit with the liners and weights in them. Then remove and let them finish cooling on a wire cooling rack,” Switzer says in the comments. It’s as simple as that!
Next time I’m baking my favorite pie, I might reach for my mini muffin tin instead of my usual pie dish to make fun bite-sized versions of the sweet treat of my choosing.
