We’re knee deep in winter, which, for me, means ending the night with a comforting, warm mug of tea. I love to have a little something sweet along with it, like a square of really good dark chocolate or a plate of Milano cookies. Hot tea and those crispy biscuits, with their decadently smooth chocolate center, are an ideal pair (don’t forget to dunk them).

Lately I’ve been swapping out my Dark Chocolate Milanos for the new lemon cookies, and it’s adding a bite of brightness to my nighttime ritual.

What You Should Know About Pepperidge Farm Lemon White Chocolate Milano Cookies

It’s been nearly seven decades since Milano cookies first popped up on shelves, and this is the first time the brand has invited white chocolate to the (tea) party. (Shocking, right?) To make up for lost time, and even spread some fruit-flavored joy, Pepperidge Farm is adding not one but three new white chocolate flavors to the mix: Lemon (my personal favorite), Strawberry, and Coconut.

The Lemon White Chocolate Milano Cookies get their citrusy punch from lemon oil and coloring from turmeric extract. The classic 7-ounce bags of cookies hit grocery shelves earlier this January and are available at retailers nationwide including Kroger, Walmart, Safeway, and Amazon for $5.09.

My Honest Review of Pepperidge Farm Lemon White Chocolate Milano Cookies

I opened the iconic paper bag and was hit with a bright, citrusy wave of lemon. The smell is incredible — and the flavor was equally pleasant. It’s not artificial at all (like some other fruit-flavored desserts can taste). It reminds me of fresh lemon peel or zest.

The filling is smooth, and the subtle sweetness of the white chocolate flavor balances out the fresh, tart lemon. Several editors at The Kitchn agreed: “The delicate lemony flavor is superb. It’s creamy, lightly sweet, and pairs excellently with the airy cookie. 10/10 treat,” said Ali, our associate editor, groceries.

“The crumbliness of the cookie gets a bright citrus-y twist with the addition of an inviting lemon flavor,” echoed Mara, our senior editor, groceries. “I encourage people to seek these out.” Even if you’re not #TeamWhiteChocolate, these new lemon cookies are that good.
