One More Way to Use a Canning Jar: Scoop Ice Cream Before the Party Starts

Yes, yes, yes — we know. We've put practically any food that will hold still in a canning jar. But honestly, when it comes to parties, food in jars is just practical! Check out this prepped-ahead-of-time ice cream party buffet that's served up in a bird bath!

Ice cream isn't exactly easy to serve up on the spot if you're feeding more than just a few people. It might be too hard to scoop or you could end up with it melting down your arm if you're digging into a big bucket — or things could even melt before you get it all together. It can be tricky to tackle, but with this previously prepped method from Pen N' Paperflowers we're reminded once again of the canning jar.

It can be a simple way to prep almost anything ahead of time and when most of your focus is on the meal, not having to worry about dessert is a serious bonus. Plus, if you make your own ice cream, the chilled, churned mixture can be poured directly into the containers to harden in the freezer. No scooping at all!
