When it comes to the perfect beverage in the morning, nothing quite compares to a warm cup of tea. While many of my friends and family members find it strange that I don’t want to sip on coffee first thing in the morning, I actually don’t mind being the oddball of my group. And, to be honest, I don’t ever see tea not being my thing.

It’s for this very reason that anytime I come across a tea brand that looks like it could definitely be my speed, I’m willing to try it — no questions asked. While I have a slight attachment to teas by DAVIDsTEA, I recently discovered the Paromi brand and, as a result, I have never been more ready and willing to throw my money at a brand of tea before now. So what’s so special about their tea? Don’t worry — I’m here to explain.

Although there are a variety of options to choose from within their loose-leaf tea and matcha options, I went for their pyramid sachets that — as the site notes — are “ideally portioned in biodegradable pyramid bags.” I usually go for loose-leaf tea, but because I wanted to start taking my tea on my walks in the morning, I felt that the sachets would be easier for steeping on-the-go. And while there are 18 varieties to choose from, I opted to start with four: Cinnamon Chai Rooibos Tea, Chamomile Lavender Rooibos Tea, Sleep With Me Herbal Tea, and the Bourbon Vanilla Black Tea. Each of the options are organic and all but the Bourbon Vanilla Black Tea are caffeine-free.

They all arrived in glass jars (which I loved so much) and each included instructions on the back with steep time. Because I’m always feeling like I need more energy, I opted to fire up my Demi Kettle from Le Creuset and start with the Bourbon Vanilla first, followed by the Cinnamon Chai and Chamomile Lavender in the days after. (The Sleep With Me tea was reserved only for the evenings I couldn’t sleep well.)

The first thing I noticed about each? The smell was incredible. Each one delivered the scents promised and made me excited about sipping my way around my neighborhood on my morning walk. And even the days that I opted to sit at home cozily in front of my fireplace, all the tea options — mixed with a bit of lemon juice and brown sugar — gave me just the feeling I needed before kicking off my hectic workday.

There was one thing that I found to be somewhat of an inconsistency, though. The steep times indicated for each tea did not deliver the strong taste I was expecting it to give based off of the aroma presented post-steep. That, however, might have been a “me” problem and although it took me a few tries to find the sweet spot of time that delivered what I personally needed, once I did, I found no issues with anything this tea delivered.

So, which one was my favorite? Although it was really hard to choose, the Chamomile Lavender Rooibos Tea was my top pick, but the Cinnamon Chai Rooibos Tea was a very, very close second. While they both gave me totally different feelings while sipping (Cinnamon Chai made me feel very cozy, and the Chamomile Lavender very much calmed me), it was the Chamomile Lavender that I found myself reaching for every morning.

To be honest, as someone who owns their own small brand of beverages, it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to drinks. When I find a brand I like, however, I tend to patronize it frequently — and Paromi is definitely on my list of must-buys from here on out.
