If you spend a lot of time on social media, you’ve probably encountered plenty of potato recipes. From those claiming to be the “world’s best potatoes” to more unique twists like the loaded baked potato grilled cheese, there seems to be an overwhelming amount of ways to enjoy them.

For me, Hajar Larbah’s TikTok video of Parmesan crusted potatoes quickly caught my attention. It promises extra-crispy spuds with an audible crunch. So what did I do? I rushed to the grocery and gathered all of the necessary ingredients to make these potatoes a reality in my kitchen.

How to Make the TikTok Parmesan Crusted Roasted Potatoes

First, mix together melted butter, olive oil, parsley, Parmesan, red pepper flakes, oregano, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Cut Yukon potatoes in half and place into a separate bowl. Then pour the melted butter mixture on top and toss to combine.

Pour your potatoes onto a sheet pan (I used a cast iron skillet), shaking well to spread out. Then, dip the sliced side of each potato into a bowl of shredded cheese before placing it back on the sheet pan facing down. Once all of your potatoes have been covered with the cheese and are back on the sheet pan, pop them into the oven at 400°F until golden-brown and crispy, 30 to 40 minutes.

My Honest Review of the TikTok Parmesan Crusted Roasted Potatoes

Let me tell you — these potatoes were nothing less than amazing! The cross-hatched viral potatoes recipe I reviewed a while back are delicious, but these are my favorite of the two. With only a few ingredients needed for this recipe, it makes for a light-lift snack or a deliciously simple side for dinner.

The crispiness at the bottom of the potatoes was amazing, and it was easy to accomplish that goal. I used a cast iron skillet instead of the baking sheet recommended, but they came out just fine. No matter which pan you use, though, you’ll want to check in on the potatoes every five to 10 minutes after you hit the 30-minute mark to ensure the Parmesan mixture doesn’t burn.

If You’re Making the TikTok-Famous Parmesan Crusted Roasted Potatoes, a Few Tips

  • Don’t be afraid to experiment. To make this fit your own palate, try different herbs and spices. Adding a little smoked paprika could give this dish a smoky and savory taste.
  • Give your potatoes the five-minute bond. Once you’ve covered your potatoes with your mixture, let them rest in a bowl for five minutes. This allows your herbs and spices to bond with your potatoes, for the ultimate finishing taste.
