Apparently, when it comes to fashion, Panera has it in the bag — literally. When the bakery-café chain known for its crusty loaves launched a cheeky (yet still stylish) purse on the heels of the recent New York Fashion Week, it went viral. The foot-long BAGuette in beloved Panera green and priced at $39.50 (not a lot of bread, IMO) sold out in just nine hours and caused quite a rise among TikTok fashionistas for a restock.

Those who missed the first drop of the 500 limited-edition purses took to TikTok for a baguette battle cry, commenting things like “pleaseeeee restock I’m begging u” and “PANERA PLS SELL MORE I NEED ONE RN.”

Panera listened, and the bag was restocked on Valentine’s Day, showing their fashion-forward foodies a little love as they tend to do each year on this special day. “[D]ue to the demand, Panera will be doing another drop of BAGuette bags on Tuesday, February 14,” a Panera representative announced.

Also of note, at 12 inches long, this is the ultimate accessory perfectly sized to carry one of Panera’s new Toasted Baguettes sandwiches, whether your to-go order is a Green Goddess Caprese Melt, Pepperoni Mozzarella Melt, or Smoky Buffalo Chicken Melt. The stylish structured accessory features an embossed pattern and flag magnetic closure with a custom metal “P” buckle, gold hardware, and a removable strap with swivel lobster clip closure.

“Our new Toasted Baguettes mark the first time that Panera has crafted a delicious sandwich in celebration of our iconic baguette – and this is certainly the first time we have created a purse,” said Drayton Martin, VP of Brand Building, Panera Bread. “Both of these creations are amazing celebrations of not only our expertise in all things bread, but also the generous touches that make each Panera experience special.”

Unfortunately for those that were hoping to nab a bag for the second drop, a Panera rep told Kitchn that when the bags were released on Tuesday, February 14, they sold out again … in under a minute! And while there is no word on whether there will be another restock, here’s hoping that we’ll be able to get our hands on one soon.
