Open the Door: Dining Space Outside the Dining Room

You know when you’re entertaining a crowd and set up some spillover space adjacent to the dining room? It might be the living room, the kitchen, or even an outdoor space. Here, we see a patio area set up to align with the indoor dining room, providing extra space and an option for guests:

It doesn’t take an expanse of glass or fancy operable wall, but a simple sliding glass door to allow a connection between entertaining indoors and out. The furniture arrangement is what does it in this example from The Germinatrix: The colorful dining chairs flanking the indoor table point your eye right outside to the colorful patio furniture. Below, we see the same patio from the outdoors looking in toward the dining room:

With this setup, it seems guests could be in both spaces and still feel together.
