Muddy Buddies (also known as Puppy Chow), is a popular Chex recipe that transforms the simple cereal into a sweet snack. The original recipe uses plain Chex cereal, chocolate chips, peanut butter, butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar. Essentially, you melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter together; stir in vanilla; pour it over the Chex; mix it all together; and then coat it with powdered sugar by shaking it in a resealable plastic bag. It’s easy enough and ready in about 15 minutes, but blogger Sarah Crawford of Broma Bakery has an even easier way of making it.

In an Instagram Reel, Crawford demonstrates how to make what she calls Oreo Muddy Buddies. And in true fashion, she’s making us smile and giggle along as she makes it. At the start of the video, Crawford tries to throw a Chex piece into her mouth, with a triumphant “yay!” at the successful third attempt. Her face is covered in powdered sugar. She’s perfect.

The no-bake dessert tutorial then starts off in earnest. Crawford pours white chocolate chips into one bowl and regular chocolate chips into the other. She melts the chocolate chips off-screen, then pours each type of chocolate into its own bag filled with Chex cereal. Crawford zips the bags closed, then shakes them vigorously. Next, she pours some powdered sugar into each bag. More shaking ensues, then she coarsely chops some Oreos on a cutting board. The Oreo chunks and chocolate-covered Chex are mixed by hand in a bowl and voila! Oreo Muddy Buddies.

One commenter sums up the content and energy of the video well: “I love how chaotically wholesome your videos are and I’m always here for it.” We are too, and we can’t wait to see what Crawford comes up with next.

Have you ever made Muddy Buddies at home? Would you try this version of it?
