Oreo Cakesters Are Returning to Shelves — And You Can Get Your Hands on Them Sooner Than You Think
If there’s one thing I don’t mind raving about, it’s my love for nostalgic things. From the return of Crystal Pepsi (albeit for a very short time) to tasting a new spin on my favorite cookie with an Oreo-flavored wine, I am all here for things that remind me of what I note to be the best time of my life: childhood.
Since the last few years have seen an undeniable surge of nostalgic foods coming back for our consumption, I had already made up in my mind that 2022 would continuing shoveling out a few goodies and hopefully, my wish list of things coming back would get smaller. And while my list doesn’t really have the dent that I hoped for quite yet (here’s looking at you, Frutopia), Oreo is making it a little shorter with the return of Oreo Cakesters.
If you’re not a true Oreo fan or just may have skipped over this era of snacks, Oreo Cakesters were originally released in 2007 to rave reviews. And while I was not technically a kid anymore by that time, when the soft-baked version of the classic sweet treat was abruptly pulled off the shelves in 2012, it secretly broke my heart. Now, however, after a long and daunting 10-year hiatus, Oreo Cakesters are making a worthy return to our grocery stores and I, for one, couldn’t be happier.
Of course, no iconic return can be done without theatrics attached, which is why Oreo collaborated with the only Blockbuster left on earth (yes, one still exists!) for a retro mashup that no one could have done better. Taking over the full store for the rollout on Friday, January 7, those who visited the Bend, Oregon location were met with a larger-than-life co-branded sign, Oreo Cakesters-themed movie poster, and free samples of the re-arrived snack. A dream!
While I’m sure that experience was one for the books, if you weren’t able to attend (don’t worry, I wasn’t either. I’m sure our invites just got lost in the mail!), the good part about it all is that you can now get your hands on your own pack of Oreo Cakesters at select retailers while supplies last. Before you head to your local grocer, however, be sure to visit oreo.com/oreo-cakesters to see who has them in stock.
