The Best Food Gifts on Oprah’s Favorite Things for 2019
Everybody’s favorite gift-buying day of the year is here! Nope, it’s not Black Friday — it’s Oprah day, the day when the media mogul and fairy godmother of great gifts releases her annual list of her “Favorite Things.” It’s a ritual that celebrates great work, good businesses, and whatever is exciting and new across industries. Of course, we’re most excited about the food items and kitchen tools. Here’s what you can expect to be hearing a lot more about in the near future!
The Best Prepared Foods and Ingredients
So what does Oprah think we should be gifting people to eat? Well, she starts with Gwendolyn Rogers’ crumb cake, a $68 breakfast cake from an Indiana-based bakery. For a cheaper alternative, she’s also suggesting Piedaho fruit pies for $39.
Other prepared food items include the pretzels from Boston-based Eastern Standard that come with flavored salts and a 12-piece tin of sea salt caramel truffles. Apparently she’s into truffles of all kinds, because there’s also Truff hot sauce, which is infused with white truffles and also a $100 truffle cooking kit.
Not into truffle? Don’t worry. Oprah also recommends Salute Santé’s grapeseed oils and “Spicewalla’s “Kitchen Essentials” pack, which will get you a set of 18 spices in adorable packaging to outfit your pantry. She also suggests getting some Vahdam Tea in that pantry, specifically their Turmeric Tea collection, and Wilder mustards.
Throwing a party or visiting someone who will be? She’s got a great option — a DIY cheese plate from Lady and Larder, which includes a bunch of California cheeses and various other American-made food products, along with a serving board and utensils. Notably, there’s also dates, mustard, and truffles involved, so we’re starting to get a sense of her tastes.
The Best Kitchen Tools for Gifting
Oprah also recommends a bunch of fun (and essential!) cooking tools for the holidays this year, like this pretty six-piece knife block set from ZWILLING for $100, and this heavy-duty blender from Ninja for $130. We also have our eye on this 9-in-1 programmable pressure cooker from Yedi for $100 and this luxe electronic corkscrew wine opener for $100 ( you just know your holiday parties need this one).
