Make One-Skillet Chicken with Garlicky Mushroom Cream Sauce
Kitchn’s Delicious Links column highlights recipes we’re excited about from the bloggers we love. Follow along every weekday as we post our favorites.
I have a pretty short checklist that must be completed in order to achieve peak autumnal coziness and it is as follows:
1. Unearth / don Snuggie.
2. Light a baked goods-scented candle.
3. Prepare one-skillet chicken with garlicky mushroom cream sauce.
4. Eat one-skillet chicken with garlicky mushroom cream sauce beside flickering baked goods-scented candle while ensconced in Snuggie.
5. Repeat.
As you can see, it’s a very simple five-step guide to seasonal happiness and I encourage you all to try it so that we can compare results.
Assuming that you already have a Snuggie and a baked goods-scented candle, here’s how to get one-skillet chicken with garlicky mushroom cream sauce into your life too.
Before you get started, make sure that you have 30 minutes to spare; a big skillet ready; and chicken breasts (or thighs), chicken broth, garlic, red pepper flakes, mushrooms, shallots, butter, heavy cream, and chopped parsley. Once all of your ingredients are nice and situated, so are YOU.
Brown the mushrooms, then the chicken, and remove both from the pan to focus on the velvety sauce. In the hot, flavorful skillet, add in shallots, chicken broth, garlic, red pepper flakes, and thyme. This will loosen up all the yummy brown bits from the mushroom and the chicken. Reduce this sauce for 10 minutes and then remove from the flame. Whisk in butter and then add in heavy cream, mushrooms, and chicken. Finish it off in the oven, top with chopped parsley, and serve with a side of crusty bread.
Peak coziness achieved.
