On the Grill: Seasoned Skewers for Kabobs

Yesterday we wrote about kabob skewers (to soak or not to soak?) and today we're bringing you a line of flavored skewers that claim to season your food from the inside out.

What do you think?

These hardwood skewers are treated with all-natural oils and herbal extracts and come in flavors like Citrus Rosemary and Hickory BBQ. Supposedly the oils infuse meat or veggies as they cook.

Interestingly, the FAQ section on the Seasoned Skewers website says it's not necessary to soak the skewers, but you can — and then they recommend soaking them in beer or wine to enhance the flavor. Apparently the oils aren't diluted by the soaking. We even though of soaking in chicken broth. (Maybe a good idea for regular skewers, too.)

The skewers are also rectangular to keep food from spinning around while you cook it.

We think this might be a fun gift for a grilling fanatic who has everything. What about you? Has anyone tried Seasoned Skewers?

Buy them for $8.95 at Sur La Table.
