The Brand Behind Those TikTok-Famous Strawberries Just Collaborated on a Delicious New Berry Butter

If you’re anything like us, you’re already missing the sweet, juicy, summer produce (and it’s not even winter yet!). While we do love a good pumpkin spiced latte and a piece of apple pie, if we’re honest, apples and pumpkins don’t really compare to the ripe, flavorful stone fruits and berries of the warmer months. Ah, what we wouldn’t give for a deep-red, perfectly ripe strawberry (we say, as we button up our coats a little higher). In fact, we find ourselves tossing evening salads with our recently restocked bottles of LUSH (the Brightland x Oishii scrumptious strawberry vinegar) and pulling out the frozen peaches we saved mid-August to bake a summer-feeling cobbler just to relive those fruit-laden days for a moment more.

Luckily, the growers of some of our favorite strawberries have come up with a solution for our fruit-based woes. That’s right — the TikTok famous farmers over at Oishii teamed up with sustainable, editor-loved, pantry-staple brand west~bourne to bring us a jar of summer goodness that we can spread on top of everything all winter long. Meet the Limited Edition Omakase Berry Butter.

What makes this berry butter different from, say, strawberry jam? Well, first let’s break down the process. The butter is apple-based, and because apples are high in pectin (you know, the stuff they add to jelly and jam), they make for a smooth, ultra-spreadable base that is the perfect carrier for other, assertive flavors such as strawberries. The butter is then sweetened with agave syrup (all natural, no added sugar), which also adds to the creamy, luxurious texture.

Now, on to the star of the show: The strawberries! Oishii has somewhat of a cult-following when it comes to their specially grown berries. The heart-shaped red fruits are raised and harvested year round (in CA and NY) thanks to the brand’s vertical farming technology. These farmers are able to simulate the same perfect strawberry-growing conditions found in Japan — and the result is an evenly ripe, unbelievably juicy berry that is jam-packed with flavor. But don’t worry, these berries don’t have to be eaten fresh. In fact, it could be argued the taste is even more concentrated when in berry butter form. Because the fruits are added to the base at the very last moment, sweet, red notes sing through the subtle apple and agave with every spread. Delectable!

There’s no doubt you’ll find a jar of this stuff on all of our holiday wish lists here at Kitchn — but the truth is, these special concoctions won’t be around for that long. Because the spreadable stuff is a limited-edition collaboration, once it sells out, it’s gone for good. And, if the masses are anything like us, they’re also daydreaming about scooping a spoonful onto toast with olive oil and goat cheese, swirling it into morning yogurt, or using it as a topping for seared pork chops.
