At its heart, Gilmore Girls was a series about the relationship between a mother and her daughter. But for fans of this series, it was about so much more: love, conflict, and a whole lot of takeout.

From the weekly dinners at Emily and Richard’s opulent home to the frequent meals at Luke’s Diner, food played a starring role in this series. To be honest, it’s been hard for me to not to imagine at times what it’d be like to eat like a Gilmore Girl. While we’ve had

coffee inspired by the series in the past, we now have something a whole lot better: an official cookbook.

At long last, fans can finally try the actual food mentioned in the series and try their hand at making it, thanks to the upcoming Gilmore Girls: The Official Cookbook. The new book — that I surmise will fly off both digital and in-store shelves quicker than imagined — will be released on April 26 and features over 50 recipes inspired by the show.

Fans of the series may recognize a lot of dishes that sound very familiar, including Sookie’s risotto, Luke’s infamous cheeseburger and fries, and even that giant pizza Lorelai had for her birthday. There’s also a nod to coffee, as that too played quite a large role in the series.

Aside from a bunch of nostalgic recipes, the new cookbook also boasts cooking tips from resident chef Sookie, hosting tips from Michel, and of course etiquette tips from Emily Gilmore herself. There’s even some advice from Lorelai and Rory for cooking fast and talking faster.

Full color photos accompany each recipe, and sweet snaps of moments from the show are also spread throughout the new cookbook. Although the book itself won’t be available until the end of April, if you want to make sure you’ll be able to get yours when it’s released, you can pre-order a copy now for just $32.99.

As a true Gilmore Girls fan myself, the only thing better than this would be to actually eat at Luke’s Diner with Lorelai and Rory. But this is a pretty good second option!
