Cooking with Herbs and Chile Peppers: Discover the remarkable diversity of peppers with Horticultural Interpreter Charles Day and sample dishes featuring fresh and dried chiles. Check out the showy chile pepper plants featured in Wave Hill’s Herb Garden. The class will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Wave Hill Garden, West 249th St. and Independence Ave. in the Bronx.

Fall Classes at French Culinary: French Culinary Institute has posted their fall course schedule.

Kitchen Confidence: Help someone else learn there way around the kitchen. Tell them about chef Brendan McDermott’s introduction to cooking concepts including basic cooking techniques, terminology, knife skills, and food safety information. The class will conclude with Chef McDermott demonstrating a recipe using the techniques and tips. Class will be held on July 31 at 6:30 p.m., $35, 616 Lorimer St., Brooklyn.

Cook with Mark Bittman at Zabar’s: We love the Minimalist’s food ideas. His 101 quick recipes in The Times yesterday was just what we needed to get back in the kitchen. Spending two days with him — browsing the greenmarket, gossiping through brunch, learning about the best groceries in Chinatown — would be dreamy. At $895 for one day, $1700 for two, the classes are a little too steep for us, but if you’re going to attend, please the rest of us know how it goes. Classes will be held on September 8 and 9.

Peach Cobbler at Panhandler: Broadway Panhandler invites shoppers to join them in celebration of National Peach Month with some peach cobble and fresh whipped cream. They’ll be serving up this treat and taking your questions about cooking with peaches from 2-5 p.m. on August 9.

A Silver Palate Picnic at the Strand: The Silver Palate Cookbook was first published in 1982, offering stylish but easy recipes that helped to inspire interest in quality cooking. At 7 p.m. on August 16, Sheila Lukins will host a picnic at the Stand to celebrate the 25th Anniversary edition of the book.
