In the 20-plus years since the publication of her breakout cookbook, How to Eat: The Pleasures and Principles of Good Food, Nigella Lawson has cemented herself as a revered food authority, not only in Britain but around the entire world. People eat up (pun intended) Nigella’s elegant cooking wisdom and effortless how-to advice. Whatever Nigella says, goes in the kitchen, and whatever Nigella says goes in the kitchen, goes in the kitchen! (Get it!?)

Here are some of her favorite gadgets and tools that help make Nigella one of the dreamiest cooks in all the land.

1. Le Creuset Signature Cast Iron Round Casserole

In an interview with the New York Post, Nigella gushed over one of her favorite cookware brands, Le Creuset. ” I have a particular fondness for Le Creuset enameled cast-iron cookware. It’s certainly heavy, and I keep mine on open shelves at an easily reachable level. It not only conducts heat so well, it also seems to get more flavor out of the food. I slow-cook a lot in mine and however burnt they look inside, a bit of a soak in the sink and they clean easily,” Nigella said. She also specified her favorite color: “I somehow feel that the original Volcanique orange can’t be improved on — I consider it a bold neutral.”

You know Nigella’s not blowing smoke either, because Le Creuset is featured heavily all over her Instagram. Note: that Volcanique orange she spoke of is known as Flame in the United States.

2. Füri West Santoku Knife

In the same New York Post interview, Nigella dished on her favorite chef’s knife. “I love the feel of a Füri knife in my hand: it’s comfortable and secure and has just enough heft, but is still light and easy to wield. They are also very beautiful to look at — I keep my collection on magnetic strips out on the wall.”

3. Microplane Zester

When asked for one tool she “can’t cook with out” by the Today Food team, Nigella confessed that it’s a fine microplane for grating garlic. (This particular one happens to be Kitchn’s favorite, too.)

4. Double Mezzaluna

Nigella told Good Food Australia that she loves to use “a mezzaluna —that half-moon-shaped knife with a handle at either end for chopping herbs (as well as chocolate).” She didn’t say which brand she likes, but we picked this one from Williams Sonoma because it’s incredibly sharp and the beechwood handles are nice and sturdy.

5. KitchenAid 5-Quart Artisan Stand Mixer

In the same interview, Nigella also professed her love for her “freestanding KitchenAid mixer (in bright pink).” We trust Nigella in knowing that this color would encourage anyone to attempt even the most ambitious cooking project.”

6. Zojirushi Rice Cooker

If you haven’t converted to the magic that is the countertop rice cooker, allow Nigella to convince you: “I am very attached to my old Zijirushi rice cooker,” she told Good Food Australia. Because it makes a prefect batch of rice every time, it’s not hard to see why.
