It’s hard to escape the hype that surrounds hard seltzer when it’s everywhere you turn (and a new brand of the stuff seemingly bubbles up every day). It’s even harder to resist the shock that comes along with genuinely liking hard seltzer once you give into the hype and try White Claw, the buzziest and top-selling brand in the category.

Because it’s so darn good, White Claw has a rabid following of fans who will defend their favorite flavors to the death. However, in the past year and a half, the company hasn’t released any new ones other than the existing line-up of Black Cherry, Lime, Raspberry, Ruby Grapefruit, Mango, and Pure. However, after unceasing requests (more than 70,000 requests, according to White Claw), the day has finally come!

As of 10 a.m. ET on this glorious Thursday, March 5th, 2020, we finally have three brand new flavors to stock our coolers with: Watermelon, Tangerine, and Lemon (!!!). Starting today, you can taste these flavors by purchasing them in the latest 12-pack Variety Pack (along with fan-favorite mango). Don’t worry, Black Cherry fans, the original 12-pack still exists too. Like the original flavors, each can has just 100 calories, 2 grams of sugar, and contains 5 percent alcohol by volume.

I was bestowed with an opportunity to have a “first taste” of the trio prior to the launch, and here are my thoughts:

1. Watermelon

I was fully expecting to vehemently oppose the existence of this flavor, as most artificial watermelon-y things completely miss the mark, but I was happy to be proven wrong. A sip of this stuff tastes like everything good about a pink Jolly Rancher — except this one goes down cold and smooth, without the sticky aftertaste. It’s almost as refreshing as a juicy slice on a summer day.

2. Tangerine

You know that glorious aroma that wafts in the air when you peel fresh citrus? That’s exactly what White Claw’s new tangerine flavor tastes like: crisp, tart, and slightly sweet. It goes down so easy that even after you have just one, you’re probably going to want to reach for another.

3. Lemon

Finally, the flavor that feels the most like a no-brainer — lemon! The company readily admits that this flavor took the longest to perfect. According to an email with their press representatives, “White Claw Lemon has been in development for over two years, as lemon is a very subtle and delicate flavor to work with.” Luckily all of that R&D paid off, since this can tastes exactly like a plain seltzer, garnished with a freshly squeezed lemon wedge.

For those of you currently at the edge of your seats anticipating the pronouncement of of my favorite flavor, here goes: TANGERINE TAKES ALL. That’s not to say I wouldn’t willingly drink the others with reckless abandon, but a cold can of this smooth, tangy hard seltzer is what I’d choose to drink on a hot summer day. Speaking of, summer can you please come faster?

Okay, so clearly I’m a White Claw fan. Are you? How do you feel about these new flavors?
