New Site for Foodies: The Daily Meal
Last Friday saw the launch of The Daily Meal, a new food website edited by Colman Andrews, co-founder of Saveur. In an introductory post, he says the site’s mission “is nothing less than to cover every aspect of the eating and drinking experience.” Have you checked it out yet?
The Daily Meal covers restaurants, recipes, entertaining and travel, with content supplied by the site’s staffers as well as its community of users. Its recipe search feature pulls from the archives of magazines like Fine Cooking, Eating Well and Food & Wine, so we can see using the site to quickly look for a recipe from a trusted source.
The current cooking-related content includes 12 Great Non-Traditional Cocktail Garnishes, Pickling Made Easy and Thanksgiving Toolbox: The Kitchen Equipment You Actually Need, most with accompanying slideshows.
The site is new so there are still some kinks. When I clicked through to a recipe for Brined Grilled Chicken Breasts with Red Chile Oil, I was instead taken to a recipe for Orange Chicken Style Tofu. Not quite the same thing!
We’ll be keeping an eye on The Daily Meal to see how it develops in the coming months. What do you think of the site?
