New Food Magazine: Jamie Magazine
Has anyone gotten a chance to check out the new Jamie Magazine? This is the latest addition to Jamie Oliver’s ever-expanding empire and one that we are very curious to get a peek at. There’s only one unfortunate drawback…
It’s currently only available at newsstands in the UK! Boo! Subscriptions are available to Jamie Oliver fans in the US, but at the rather steep annual price of about $64. It’ll have to be really extraordinary to beat out some of our current subscriptions.
We can get a sneak preview on the magazine’s website (link below). Like his books and TV programs, Jamie Magazine looks like it follows Oliver’s signature approachable style. The writing seems friendly and immediately accessible to both new and seasoned home cooks. The format integrates text with gorgeous color photos that show us how the finished dish should look along with the key steps needed to make it.
One thing we think this magazine has going for it is the breadth of topics. He includes a good chunk of recipes (over 100 of them, if we believe the cover!), as well as spotlights on local artisan products, a few restaurant profiles, and coverage of ethnic cuisines. There even seems to be a bit of travel writing thrown in the mix with a piece on Stockholm!
What do you think – is it worth seeking out a copy?
