Netflix Is Teaming Up with Postmates to Bring the “Bad Vegan” Menu Back to NYC One More Time
Recently there’s been a lot of interest in true crime and scammer-tainment types of documentaries. From Inventing Anna to The Tinder Swindler, Netflix seems to have found a goldmine with these types of shows. And while each is extremely mind-boggling in its own right, perhaps the most shocking of late was Netflix’s Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives, which tells the shocking story of Sarma Melngailis. Melngailis founded one of the hottest vegan restaurants in New York City history, but then fell from fame as quickly as she rose.
Anyone who remembers the New York City-based trendy vegan restaurant Pure Food and Wine may care a lot more about their legendary raw vegan delicacies more than the scandal that was apparently going on behind the scenes. In tribute to that — as well as the Netflix series that was released March 16 — Netflix partnered with Postmates to bring some of the most popular Pure Food and Wine vegan raw dishes back to cure your appetite. But it’s only for a few days. And no, this is not a scam.
If you’re still daydreaming of your favorite meal that abruptly left your tastebuds hankering for more, here’s your chance to enjoy it one more time. From March 25 through March 27, anyone in New York City who uses Postmates can order a free meal for delivery or pickup from The Bad Vegan Kitchen. This meal will be totally authentic, as it will be prepared by Chef Nikki Bennett, the former head chef of Pure Food and Wine. As a bonus, Bennett will be joined by Chef Missy Maidana, former Pastry Chef of Pure Food and Wine, to cook up something deliciously sweet too.
The free meal will include a Caesar salad, the restaurant’s iconic raw lasagna, and a Mallomar-inspired dessert. And if you missed it the first time, this meal is totally free; there won’t even be any delivery fees.
While there’s no word on whether or not Pure Food and Wine will be establishing itself again in New York, fans can at least feel a bit of nostalgia if only for just a few days. And if you wished you could have tasted the meals after watching the documentary, here’s your chance!
