9 of the Most Ridiculous Gifts in the Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalog
Neiman Marcus’ 2019 Christmas Book is officially here! If you’re not familiar, allow us to fill you in. Every year the retailer comes out with a ridiculous list full of ridiculously expensive (and luxurious) gifts that only ridiculously rich people could buy. (Although this is the first year that all of the items are less than $1 million.) The book includes more than 800 holiday gifts and, while they’re not ALL ridiculously expensive, some are still just a little, well, ridiculous. (We’re saying “ridiculous” a lot!) Let’s take a look, shall we?
1. Gold Chocolate Bar Briefcase
For the serious chocolate-lover, this briefcase was specially made to house four “gold bars” (which appear to just be metallic cardboard boxes?) that are full of chocolate.
Buy: Gold Chocolate Bar Briefcase, $200
2. Taste of Italy
Neiman Marcus also comes out with Fantasy Gifts, which are some of the most expensive presents (but do send a portion of the proceeds to nonprofit organizations). For example, you can get a custom dog house for a very lucky pup or surprise a food-lover with a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy — complete with a pasta-making class and a stay at a Massimo Bottura’s exclusive country house (they’d also get to eat at his three-Michelin-starred restaurant, Osteria Francescana).
Buy: Taste of Italy, $200,000
3. 8 Oak Lane Large Gold Champagne Pouch
This gift actually doesn’t seem unreasonably expensive and we guess it’s only mildly silly? If you have a friend who likes to bring Champagne to parties, she might appreciate this clutch, which would allow her to tote a bottle in style.
Buy: 8 Oak LaneLarge Gold Champagne Pouch, $34
4. Bari Lynn Girl’s Cheers Acrylic Box Clutch Bag
Or there’s this bag, which could be better for your friend who usually shows up empty-handed.
Buy: Bari Lynn Girl’s Cheers Acrylic Box Clutch Bag, $78
5. Golden TV Tray
Does anyone NEED a golden TV tray to eat leftovers off of? No, but it could make meatloaf (for the third night in a row) seem more fun.
Buy: Golden TV Tray, $16
6. CR Impact Moët & Chandon Champagne Vending Machine
Fun fact: This price does NOT include the 360 mini bottles of Moët & Chandon that are needed to fill up the machine. But the machines do come in black, white, or gold. So at least there’s that.
Buy: CR Impact Moët & Chandon Champagne Vending Machine, $35,000
7. Neiman Marcus White Fudge-Covered Corn Twists,
The ultimate mix of high and low, these treats are basically candy-covered Bugles.
8. Saint Louis Crystal St. Regis Midnight Supper Set
Sure, these glasses are part of an exclusive collaboration with St. Regis and are inspired by the hotel chain’s time-honored Midnight Suppers. But they’re $450 each!
Buy: Saint Louis Crystal St. Regis Midnight Supper Set, $2,300
9. Neiman Marcus 4-Pound Lemon Vodka Liqueur Cake
Don’t want to spend $62 on a lemon cake? You can make this one from scratch for a LOT less.
Buy: Neiman Marcus 4-pound Lemon Vodka Liqueur Cake, $62
