My Favorite Quick and Easy Non-Alcoholic Drink
I’m not usually much of a soda drinker. If I drink anything other than water, it’s likely to be a cocktail or a glass of wine. But when I was pregnant, and those weren’t options anymore, drinking yet another glass of sparkling water just didn’t cut it. I wanted something that felt like a treat, a drink I could open like I would a bottle of wine. That’s when I discovered this Blood Orange Italian soda.
A friend actually served it to me one night when I was at her house for dinner, and ever since then I’ve tried to keep a bottle on hand as my pinch-hitter non-alocholic drink option. It’s sweet and delicious, and when poured over ice in a lowball glass, satisfies my craving for something sweet and special. It’s like San Pellegrino’s Arianciata Rossa, but I much prefer the flavor of this store brand version from Whole Foods. I always have guests ask what it is and where to get it when I serve it!
A 24.4 fluid ounce bottle goes for $2.99 at Whole Foods, and there are other flavors to choose from as well, including Tangerine and Pink Grapefruit.
It’s a great little treat to have on hand for last-minute guests, and of course you can always add a dash of booze if you want to serve it to a diverse crowd of those abstaining and those who’d prefer not to.
Have you ever tried Whole Foods’ market sodas?
