The 10 Things Most Couples Are Adding to Their Wedding Registries These Days
In my humble opinion, the most thrilling part about getting invited to a wedding (aside from, ya know, witnessing the ultimate commitment), is the first look at a couple’s registry when all the details arrive in the mail. Are they asking for the classics you might expect? Are they bucking tradition and hoping for anything completely out of left field? And for the love of all that is Holy Matrimony, what do they plan to do with a $600 crystal wine decanter?
That’s why I’m super pumped that wedding season is upon us … because it means that it’s FINALLY time to start creeping on registries again!
In the spirit of the season, I asked the experts at Zola, a wedding registry website, to dive into the data of the most-registered-for kitchen and home products. “These days, the majority of couples live together before getting married and already have a lot of the essentials, so when it comes to home goods, they’re using their registry as a time to invest in fun items they might not buy for themselves,” says Jennifer Spector, Zola’s director of brand. So what are those items?
Whether you’re planning your own wedding, going to one later this summer, or just happen to be curious, this list will be fun to stalk — I mean, look at.
Not super surprising here … “The KitchenAid Stand Mixer has been the most popular registry gift since basically the beginning of time,” Spector tells us. It’s basically become a rite of passage. Happy wedding! Here’s a stand mixer.
2. Airbnb Gift Card, $100
The second most popular wedding registry request might come as an actual surprise to you. Spector credits the rise in experiential gifts to the fact that many couples already live together and already have the essentials. An Airbnb gift card makes sense as a kind of tangible honeymoon fund contribution.
These dreamy, creamy, metallic pieces are the most popular dinnerware set on Zola’s site, and it’s not so hard to see why. They’re classic, modern, elegant, and fun, all at the same time.
It’s likely not a coincidence that this golden utensil set closely trails the most-registered-for dinnerware set. The real question is: Would you pair these sets together?
5. Lodge Logic Cast Iron Skillet, $30
No home kitchen is complete without a trusty cast iron skillet. You can pretty much cook anything in one of these bad boys, which is why couples are smart to put them on their list. Plus, cast iron lasts forever — like marriage, hopefully!
6. Pyrex 3-Piece Measuring Cup Set, $30
In the more than 100 years that Pyrex has been around, it has earned itself a rightful place in pretty much every kitchen in the country. So, it’s not exactly groundbreaking that their classic 3-piece measuring cup set is still popular with the newly engaged set. It’s the kind of thing you’ll reach for time and time again.
You can bet that couples who register for this small appliance are big breakfast people. Maybe even breakfast-for-dinner people? Brunch people, too.
8. Le Creuset Signature Round Dutch Oven, from $220
If a couple creates an online wedding registry and doesn’t put a Le Creuset Dutch Oven on it, did they even create an online wedding registry?
This 10-piece nonstick set isn’t everything a baker could ever need, but it’s a pretty good place to start.
10. OXO Good Grips POP Containers, $50
Professional organizers swear by these clear canisters for pantry organization. Couples would be wise to add these to their wishlists if they want their post-wedding digs to look like The Home Edit stopped by for a visit.
Are you surprised by anything on this list? What’s on your dream registry?
