When you're looking to make a specific recipe or want to learn a technique, Google is probably your best friend. And if you want to learn about what's new and popular? Pinterest is your gal. I'm endlessly fascinated about what is trending on Pinterest. What people save and make on the social platform is always an indicator to me what people actually aspire to make at home. That's why I was super excited when they released their top trend predictions for 2018 last week, which included things like healthy coffee, ghee, and mocktails.
Before we leap forward, however, I want to take a step back and review all the most popular recipes on Pinterest for 2017. Kitchn covered over 40 recipes that were trending on Pinterest this year. Some of them were more popular than others. For example, this zucchini recipe was saved over 750,000 times on Pinterest this year. And this slow cooker recipe was saved over 570,000 times this year.
Below you can find the complete list. There's this cabbage recipe, which seems like a great side dish for the winter, and this chicken recipe, which seems like a lunch I'd want to make when all the holiday things are over. There's also this "sandwich" recipe, which made people (like me) very, very upset. And I can't wait to make these brownies in 2018. They're covered in salted caramel so you know they're just about perfect.
I'm curious if any of these recipes will change in 2018. Will the top chicken recipe be a roast chicken? And will the top mac and cheese go to a blogger we've never heard of? My bet is that most thing will change, but not all. For example, I'm pretty sure that salad dressing will continue to reign supreme for some time.
