Muffins are a funny food. They look like unfrosted cupcakes, and yet it’s totally acceptable to eat one for breakfast. Not that I’m complaining: Muffins are one of my favorite breakfast treats. I fully support your decision to start the day by eating a tiny cake.

Although you can buy them from a store or coffee shop, I prefer my muffins home-baked. There’s nothing better than a warm, fresh muffin straight from the oven. And I’m not alone in my love. Here are our most popular muffin recipes — a mix of classics and fresh twists that Kitchn readers love, and are sure to become your morning favorites as well.
