When Strawberried & Peanut Butter M&M’s took over shelves in 2009, candy-obsessed shoppers couldn’t get enough. The flavor was a hit, featuring a nostalgic crunchy coating and a jammy-nutty filling. That is until it got discontinued in 2015.

But, according to reports from @candyhunting, a popular site for the latest updates on all things confections, peanut butter and jelly M&M’s are set to make a comeback soon. This news is a big deal; the flavor still gets attention years later. According to a Reddit post from 2023, one user shared, “I used to get them after school at 7/11 once or twice a week — this is coming from a guy who was never too keen on M&Ms.”

Since Mars — the company that produces M&M’s — plans to announce this PB&J drop this fall, you likely won’t see this flavor hit the shelves in time for Halloween. According to a press release, Mars started shipping their spooky lineup back in July 2024. The announcement mentioned keeping an eye out for seasonal candy offerings like Snickers Ghoulish Green treats and Skittles Littles

The Kitchn reached out to Mars to learn more about this upcoming drop. While the company couldn’t share specifics on the release, they did point out their guiding inspiration for product launches. “We are constantly keeping a pulse on consumer trends to give fans what they crave,” says a spokesperson with Mars Wrigley.

Still, fans are basking in excitement, rushing to express their eagerness for the drop. One person commented on the @candyhunting post saying, “You have made my day!” while another user mentioned, “FINALLY THEYRE COMING BACK!!! I’ve missed the strawberried peanut butter ones every single day since they were discontinued.”

If you can’t get your mind off these peanut butter and jelly M&M’s, the good news is that they’re slated to debut at the NACS trade show in October 2024, where consumers can learn more about the expected release date. While you wait for more details about the drop, you can check out M&M’s seasonal flavors, like their limited-edition Milk Chocolate Pumpkin Pie, available at $5.99 per bag.
