Mindy Kaling Eating a Bag of Beef Jerky Is Giving Us Life

Alice Walker, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and activist, once said that in nature, nothing is perfect. “Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways and they’re still beautiful,” she continued. She might be right about forests and stuff, but there is one flawless thing that can be found in the natural world, and her name is Mindy Kaling.

How can you not love Kaling, a brilliantly funny writer and talented performer who also has a well-documented love for McDonald’s? Her Instagram feed is always #goals on any number of levels, especially when she’s talking about her favorite snack foods. In a recent post, she used that filter that makes tiny burgers, fries, and donuts float from your forehead while she spent some downtime eating Krave Sweet Chipotle beef jerky straight out of the bag.

“Eating my beef jerky in my trailer, learning my lines, life is good,” she said (and the effect was enhanced by the fact that the voice changer on that photo filter made her sound like each piece of jerky was seasoned with helium). If she hadn’t given herself a thumbs up at the end of it, we would’ve done it for her.

If you’ve been a longtime follower of hers on social media (and if you’re not, what’s wrong with you?), then you’ll know that she frequently posts about her fave treats, and it’s never in a guilty-pleasure or “I’m so baaaad” way. Nope, our girl straight-up owns those cookies, which is exactly how it should be. “I’m off on script and trying to eat healthy…. until i encountered this pretzel butterscotch chocolate chip cookie from [Milk Bar Bakery],” she wrote in one glorious example. “Now it’s all I need.”

“This is a chocolate chip walnut cookie from [Levain Bakery] in NYC,” she shared in another. “I don’t know how interesting this is but I love chocolate chip cookies, but I’m not a fan of the large, flat olive oil versions that are so in fashion right now. I like a cakey fluffy buttery cookie. Whatever, cut to [some friends] recommending these cookies and us ordering them from Levain. And holy sh*t, are they good.” (She punctuated that one with #cookietime and #cookiethoughts hashtags).

So yeah, maybe nothing in nature is perfect. Except Mindy Kaling, obviously.
