My Mom’s Secret to the Most Delicious Recipes? This Beloved Mediterranean Cookbook
One of the best things my mom ever passed on to me was her love of cooking. In fact, it’s something we’ve bonded over since I was a child. Whether we were watching Food Network together and planning out some fun new meals to try or whipping up a seasonal dessert with her beloved KitchenAid mixer (which she also lovingly passed on to me a couple years back), cooking was and continues to be a cornerstone in our relationship.
A couple of month’s back, my mom eagerly FaceTimed to tell me about a new cookbook she found. Now, reader, I’ll be honest — it has been a while since I’ve read a cookbook that I actually enjoy front to back, so I wasn’t too interested at first. Then she told me the name: The Mediterranean Dish. This instantly piqued my interest as it had the same name as my favorite food blog. Low and behold, they were one in the same. However, it wasn’t until my mom came to visit and we started whipping up some of the recipes together that I figured out that this might be one of the best cookbooks around.
What Is The Mediterranean Dish?
The Mediterranean Dish is the first cookbook from Suzy Karadsheh, creator of the widely popular food blog of the same name. Released in 2022, it features 120 recipes inspired by Karadsheh’s upbringing on the Mediterranean shores of Egypt, with inspiration crossing the vast range of the Mediterranean from Greece and southern Spain to Jordan, Tunisia, and more. Each recipe in this cookbook uses easy-to-find ingredients and features easy-to-follow, tested-to-perfection instructions that make adding some Mediterranean-inspired meals to your meal rotation easy and fun!
Why I Love The Mediterranean Dish
Now I’ll admit, as a longtime fan of the preceding blog, I was fairly confident that this cookbook would be great, but I underestimated just how great it would be. I feel many of us can agree that it’s hard to find a cookbook where every recipe is a 10/10. Well, dear reader, so far this summer my mom and I have put close to two dozen of the recipes to the test, ranging from delicious breakfast finds like the Sweet and Nutty Couscous in Milk, showstopping salads like the Mid-Summer Tomato and Peach Panzanella, and mouth-watering dinners like the Hawashi Pitas, with every one of them being a hit (even with the pickiest members of our household!). And yes, we’re still working though the book with yet a dud in sight, though I’m doubtful we will find one. Just to be sure, though, I picked up my own copy and have been having tons of fun in my home with this book, too.
The Mediterranean Dish normally comes in at $33, but right now you can get it for just $19 (that’s 40% off!) So if you’re looking for a delicious cookbook that you’ll actually use, you can’t go wrong with this pick. You may just find yourself gifting it to friends and family, too. Now if you excuse me, I’ve got some recipe planning to do.
