This Salami Bouquet Is the Perfect Way to Say “I Love You”

Valentines’s Day is synonymous with chocolates, sparkling wine, and flowers (lots and lots of flowers). In fact, as many as 198 million roses are sold on Valentine’s Day alone. But here’s the thing: In a couple of days those flowers will die, and all you’ll be left with is the ghost-like feeling of love. What if instead you went for something … edible. You know, something that lasted a little bit longer. Something like meat!

LunchBunch, a company based in Adelaide, Australia, which makes edible bouquets of fresh fruits, veggies, and sweets, has a Meat and Cheese Bouquet section, devoted to the beauty and draw of an encased sausage. They offer three different basic bouquets, including one called The Meat and Cheese Volcano, which includes “a mix of Barossa’s finest sausages, salamis, cheeses;” Australian nuts; and crispy breadsticks.

(And by the way, you can add an entire beer to your already large-and-in-charge bouquet of deliciousness, a Bavarian pretzel, a bigger bottle of alcohol, or other extras.)

The company’s Valentine’s Day Collection also offers a Prosciutto Roses Bunch — filled with prosciutto and salami roses, glazed pears, and clementines — another fine meat-based symbol of your affection to give to the person in your life.

So who came up with this fine arrangement of charcuterie? Founder Vlada Kazimirchuk. Kazimirchuk says her edible arrangement business started with a single bouquet “for my daughter when she went to a birthday party in the city, that was a colourful bunch of sweets and fruits. Soon she called me from the city, excited, saying she got stopped by strangers asking where she got the bouquet.” Kazimirchuk goes on to say that within a month, her “hobby turned into a great business, which I was always dreaming about.”

Currently, they only serve the Adelaide area. If you, like me, are American and therefore sad about that, a company named Say It with Beef (that’s right) sells something called a “broquet” which consists of meat roses (beef jerky and pepperoni) for $53.

“Our bouquets look modern, elegant, sculptural, and classy. These are great for someone hard to please,” Kazimirchuk writes on their website. She also adds that all of their bouquets are suitable for all occasions, all ages, and genders. Good to know.
