This New Docuseries About Restaurant Couples Sounds Incredibly Intense — And I’m Totally Going to Tune In
There is no shortage of food and cooking reality shows on television. Just when I thought I’d seen it all (cut to: Iron Chef reboot), the producers of 90 Day Fiancé dropped a trailer for a unique series that blends chef documentaries with high-stress relationship situations. The show, Me or the Menu, follows four romantic couples navigating the restaurant industry.
Some couples are racing the clock as they prepare for a grand opening. Others are feeling the challenges of day-in, day-out restaurant management. They’re all anxious and snippy with each other. You can learn more about out the couples on Food Network’s website, and they all seem relatively chill except for Nate — who proposed to his wife with a food truck instead of a ring. Casual move with absolutely no pressure there. I’ve got my eye on you, Nate.
Even the promotional teaser sounds high-stakes: “Sixty percent of restaurants fail, fifty percent of marriages end in divorce, and four couples are trying to beat both odds.” Yikes, good luck, and godspeed.
If this show is a little too stressy for your liking, I’ve got alternate watching ideas. HBO Max’s Julia is a soothing retelling of Ms. Child’s life, and all eight episodes are available for streaming on HBO Max. Of course, you can always binge countless old episodes of Great British Bake Off on Netflix.
Me or the Menu premieres Thursday, June 30, at 10 p.m. EST on the Food Network and Discovery+. Tuning in is a must; whether you watch it with your honey or solo is up to you.
Do you think these couples (and their restaurants) are going to make it?
