If you were to poll a bunch of avid home cooks on what one kitchenware brand they depend on in their home kitchen, we’re willing to bet many of them would call out Material in a heartbeat. The AAPI-founded, DTC kitchenware brand has earned rave reviews for such tools as their well made cutting boards, the Open Bowl has turned the frownie upside downie on our sad desk lunches. (Reader, the same cannot be said for other bowls!)

Imagine our delight when we got word from Material, saying that their ceramics line was about to expand with two more eye-catching, efficient bowl sets that are “as beautiful in your kitchen for meal prep and entertaining as they are on the coffee table or by your bedside tables.” When you take a look at these bowls, you’ll probably want to order one for each of those occasions.

Up first is the Bap Bowl, a dish with a small diameter and deep, curvaceous interior that are fit for holding the perfect portion of bap, or rice in Korean, hence the name of the bowl. But don’t let the branding misguide you: This is not a single-use bowl! In fact, Material suggests it could make as a great catch-all for small trinkets. We could see it as a salt crock.

But wait … there’s more! If you think, like we do, that a beautifully constructed breakfast is the ultimate act of self-kindness, Material also just rolled out the Breakfast Bowl. This stunner is the slightly larger of the new sets, making it perfect for your greatest early morning dreams — think yogurt parfaits, savory oats, breakfast salad (it’s a thing!). Maybe you prefer to skip breakfast (we would never!) in pursuit of more zzz’s (we get it). Then the breakfast bowl can easily be redeployed as the vessel for your WFH desk lunches, too-lazy-to-cook dinners of soups and stews, grain bowls during Saturday brunch, and everything in between.

You have the option to purchase both the Bap Bowls and Breakfast Bowls in Grotto and Dune, the classic shades that color up the rest of the Material tableware we swear by. The brand further applies their eminent dishwasher-and-microsafe-safe quality to their new bowls and then some. The Bap Bowls and Breakfast Bowls were made in special creative collaboration with South Korean female ceramicist, Hye Rin Yang who, like the team behind Material, bring “culinary and design expertise” to the forefront of her work to sculpt timeless, enduring pieces. This thoughtfully crafted brainchild of the two creatives is an homage to their Korean roots, more specifically to “the rich ceramic traditions of Yeoju, South Korea, where artisans have been producing ceramics since 918 A.D.”

Whatever your bowl needs are, we’d recommend you get Material’s bowl sets before the Internet beats you to the punch. Hint hint wink wink: goods from Material sell out fast — so get on it!
