Move over, Kardashian ladies. There’s a hot new swimsuit model in town — and she’s taking over the cover of Sports Illustrated.

While we’re only five months into 2023, it’s no surprise that Martha Stewart has had an incredibly busy year already. From the release of the second season of her show Martha Cooks to being Etsy’s first official curator of the year, there’s no slowing the 81-year-old down. And though there are plenty of other things we can add to her list of accomplishments over the last year that prove she’s an overall icon, her latest win takes her back to her roots as a model. Covering the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Martha Stewart is now noted as the brand’s oldest cover model in history.

“When I heard that I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, I thought, ‘Oh, that’s pretty good, I’m going to be the oldest person I think ever on a cover of Sports Illustrated,’” she told Sports Illustrated. “And I don’t think about age very much, but I thought that this is kind of historic.”

Opting to participate in this year’s issue to remind everyone that women can look good and feel even better at any age, Martha — who showed off her 10 looks in the shoot — shot the cover in the Dominican Republic. And, you can bet she gave us plenty of repeats of the infamous thirst trap pool photo from 2020.

So, how did she get herself ready for the shoot? Well, according to Martha, it took a few things. Calling the opportunity to be on the cover at the age of 81 a challenge that she feels she met, Martha told Today, “I didn’t starve myself, but I didn’t eat any bread or pasta for a couple of months. I went to pilates every other day and that was great.” Of course, that wasn’t all though. As she revealed, those things, coupled with her “clean life” of a good diet, exercise, and healthy skincare, helped her to get ready for the “fun” shoot.

Although this shoot may not break the internet like last year’s shoot for Green Mountain Coffee Roasters when she stripped down, you’ve got to admit that these photos are definitely worth talking about. An 81-year-old going head-to-head on a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover with Megan Fox, Kim Petras, and Brooks Nader, and holding her own? An icon if I’ve ever seen one.
