Martha Stewart’s Trick for Her Super-Fluffy Scrambled Eggs Is Nothing Like We Expected
There are a lot of different tricks you can try to get the fluffiest scrambled eggs imaginable. Adding a teaspoon of water or cubes of butter (hello, Julia Child), beating in air or adding cornstarch, the list of tricks goes on and on. But one of the most unique tricks we’ve ever seen is one from Martha Stewart herself, and doesn’t require a stovetop at all to cook them. Instead, head on over to your cappuccino machine.
No, this is not a joke! Instead of cooking her scrambled eggs in a skillet, Martha Stewart shows in a video on Facebook how she whisks up her eggs and cooks them via the milk steamer on her cappuccino machine. Here’s how to do it:
In a tall measuring cup or mug, whisk together the eggs with salt, pepper, and cubes of butter. Then place the steam wand from the cappuccino machine into the cup and steam the eggs, mixing as you steam. This will scramble them up and create that soft, fluffy texture. Martha spreads her fluffy scrambled eggs onto a piece of toasted bread, and tops with more salt and pepper.
“These eggs are buttery and fluffy and light and delicious,” she explains in her video. She also calls it a “conversation piece in your kitchen,” given how unique this particular technique is. It is certainly unconventional and starts a great conversation, however, this method isn’t the most convenient for the everyday person who likely does not have an espresso or cappuccino machine with a steam wand in their home. “Because everybody has a cappuccino machine. And no stove and frying pan,” comments one viewer on the video.
Not to mention how messy the steam wand gets, and how you’ll have to clean it out after. Steam wands generally need to be removed and soaked in a solution before rinsing out and attaching back to the machine, which could be inconvenient when you want to make a coffee and scrambled eggs in the morning.
