You’ll Never Guess What City Martha Stewart Chose for Her First-Ever Restaurant
Hello, it’s me — your resident Martha Stewart super fan. I’m endlessly fascinated by Martha’s capacity for all things home, cooking, organizing, and entertaining, and I pride myself on keeping up with whatever Martha’s got cooking. (And at 80 years old, she’s putting my output of work and projects to shame.) I’ll also buy pretty much anything that Martha is selling, so when I tell you I screamed at her latest announcement … well folks, I really did.
Martha is opening a restaurant in Las Vegas. Martha! A restaurant! IN VEGAS! The concept is farm-to-table, which makes perfect sense with Martha’s seasonal, fresh cooking style, and it’s reported to have capacity for just under 200 diners.
Although Martha’s restaurant, The Bedford, will be at The Paris in Vegas, it won’t feel glitzy and glamorous. Instead, it will be decorated in the style of her gorgeous country home in Bedford, New York. As to be expected, Martha took charge of the design herself, modeling the dining room after her own kitchen and home, with a neutral color palette and seasonal pops of color. “It’s intimate,” Martha explained to People magazine, and added that she hopes diners will feel like they’re catching an authentic glimpse of how she entertains.
And the food? It sounds just as good as the decor, with a focus on small, artisan producers and growers that Martha personally loves. (To name a few: Jasper Hill Farm cheese, the Las Vegas Farmers Market, and — hello! — Urbani Truffles.) Martha’s vision for the menu features classics that she’s known for, such as “wonderful breads” and baked goods, along with comforting soups and pastas.
Although no specific date has been set for the grand opening, it will likely be in the spring of 2022. Martha told People that though it had been a rough couple of years for everyone, she is “hoping for a healthier year,” and looking forward to “enjoying some good food and some good company.” Same, Martha. Same. I would love to dine at The Bedford when it opens in Las Vegas. Would you?
