Martha Stewart Taught Jamie Oliver a Very Useful Kitchen Hack, and We Can’t Wait to Use It
Even the most experienced of chefs are constantly learning from one another, and Martha Stewart is known for always having a brilliant kitchen hack to share. Known as the Queen of Lifestyle and Entertaining, Martha has tricks to keep waffles crisp and martinis strong, and that’s just the tip of the well-decorated iceberg. So, it’s no surprise that while in her home kitchen with celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, Martha introduced him to a hack that will change the way he operates in the kitchen.
Recently, while shooting an upcoming episode for season 2 of her show Martha Cooks, the two were hard at work preparing a baked lemon cheesecake from Oliver’s cookbook, One. In a clip of the show shared with PEOPLE, Martha — who called Oliver a “master at simplification” shocked the chef with a super-simple trick that will come in handy for even the most novice at-home chefs.
While blending the cream cheese and lemon for the lemon cheesecake’s custard in a food processor, Oliver says that next he will be pouring the custardy blend onto a biscuit base that was previously baked in a skillet. As Oliver begins to pour, holding the removable blades with one hand Stewart asks him if he is familiar with the finger trick. Assuming that she is referencing the one “around the edge,” Oliver is visibly taken aback at what the domestic diva does next.
“No, your finger in this right here, so then you can use your other hand,” she says as she demonstrates holding the processor from the bottom hole to keep the removable blades in place.
“I can’t believe I didn’t know that!” Oliver laughs as he tries the new method over his more awkward and clunky one. “Thank you, Martha.”
What an important reminder that no matter how experienced we may be, we can always learn something new, and you can trust Martha to know the simple tricks we need to make everything easier, neater, and safer.
Martha Cooks season 2 premieres April 3 on the Roku Channel.
